About university
Nanchang Institute of Technology (NIT), a public university, is located in Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province in the east central of China. NIT covers a land area of 136.5 hectares, and owns Yaohu Campus and Pengqiao Campus. NIT boasts beautiful scenery and excellent educational and teaching resources.
As a tertiary educational institution, NIT specialises in multidisciplinary education of engineering, management, science, agriculture, liberal arts, economics, fine arts etc., and has distinctive characteristics in the discipline of water conservancy and electric power. With over 19,000 full-time students among which we have over 1000 postgraduate students, and more than 1500 staff members, NIT proudly offers 58 undergraduate programmes and 13 postgraduate programmes . Moreover, 5 state-level sci-tech research platforms, and 15 provincial-level key laboratories or engineering research centers in NIT facilitate and support its high quality education.
Overview
NIT provides both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for international students in fall 2024 (refer to Enrollment Programmes). The duration for postgraduate programmes is 3 years, and that for undergraduate programmes is 4 years. Students who successfully complete all the credits, dissertation and pass thesis defense will be conferred with Graduation Certificate and Degree. The mode of study is full-time.

Entry Requirements
All the applicants must be non-Chinese citizens over 18 years old, holding valid foreign passports, with healthy body and good behavior, without criminal records, and willing to obey the Chinese laws and regulations of NIT, and respect the norms and customs of Chinese people.
Other entry requirements include:
1. Undergraduate Students
(1) Students are required to have the education degree of senior high school and above recognized by China, generally with GPA of over 70 or ranking in the first 30% of the graduated school.
(2) Minimum level of HSK 4 is required.
2. Postgraduate Students
(1) Students are required to hold bachelor’s degree recognized by China, to pass the interview of the NIT expert group.
(2) Minimum level of HSK 4 is required.

Accommodation Fees | Double room: 3,000yuan/academic year/ person; Single room: 3,000yuan/semester/person, 6,000yuan/ academic year/ person. All rooms are equipped with wifi access, private bathroom and public washing machine. A public kitchen is available for self-catering. Students may rent an air conditioner and pay the expenses for water, electricity and internet bills. |
Other Expenses | Students should also pay for their meals and food, on-campus medical expenses, textbook fees and expenses for experiment, internship and major visit beyond teaching program according to the standard stipulated by NIT. |
N.T: Students are required to pay up the tuition and accommodation fees upon registration. In case of any special circumstances where the student fails to pay, he/she should promise in written form to pay up the tuition and accommodation fees within one month after his/her arrival. Those who refuse to pay the money without any special circumstances will not be registered and is required to leave NIT to their home countries within five days. Due to the financial procedure, the excellent freshman scholarship will be distributed after students’ bank accounts are opened. Please make your financial arrangements properly.
Insurance
According to the requirements of laws and regulations in China, all the international students are required to buy insurance during their study in China. Buying it prior to or after arrival to China are both acceptable. Insurance premium in NIT is RMB 800 yuan/person/year.
NIT will not handle registration for those who do not buy insurance as required.
Scholarships
In order to encourage excellent international students to study in NIT, “Excellent Freshmen Scholarship”, “Academic Scholarship”, and “HSK Outstanding Scholarship” for international students are provided . With the same purpose, Jiangxi provincial government awards those excellent students who choose to study in Jiangxi Province “Scholarship Offered by Jiangxi Provincial Government for Outstanding International Students”.
Excellent Freshman Scholarship for International Students is rewarded to those undergraduate and postgraduate students who apply for the programmes for no less than 4-year study in NIT.
Scholarship for undergraduate students is RMB 20,000 yuan/person;
Scholarship for postgraduate students is RMB 25,000 yuan/person;
Academic Scholarship for International Students is used as a reward for excellent sophomores to senior undergraduate students, postgraduate students in NIT.
l The first-class scholarship is RMB 20,000 yuan/person/year.
l The second-class scholarship is RMB 15,000 yuan/person/year.
l The third-class scholarship is RMB 10,000 yuan/person/year.
HSK Outstanding Scholarship. All the international students obtaining HSK certificates of levels 5 and 6 during their study in NIT are eligible to apply for HSK Outstanding Scholarship and will be rewarded with RMB 800 yuan and 1,000 yuan respectively.
Scholarship Offered by Jiangxi Provincial Government for Outstanding International Students consists of three classes of standards, specifically as follows:
l Class-A Scholarship: RMB 25,000yuan/person/year, offered to outstanding international students accepting doctorate/master’s education in Jiangxi.
l Class-B Scholarship: RMB 20,000yuan/person/year, offered to outstanding international students accepting undergraduate education in Jiangxi.
N. T: For “Scholarship Offered by Jiangxi Provincial Government for Outstanding International Students” offered by Jiangxi government and “Excellent Freshman Scholarship for International Students” as well as “Academic Scholarship for International Students” offered by NIT, international students could only choose either of them from the government or NIT.

Application Procedures
Period of Application: from December 1st , 2023 to June 30th , 2024
Note: If you intend to apply for scholarship, please submit relevant materials as required before May 30th , 2024.
Application Requirements
Applicants shall submit the application via email to the contact person in corresponding schools. The application materials include:
l Application Form of Nanchang Institute of Technology for International Students and Curriculum Vitae of International Students in Nanchang Institute of Technology
l Scanned passport
l The highest education certificate (certified by Chinese Embassy)
l Academic Transcript
l Foreigner’s Physical Examination Form
l Police Non-criminal Record (certified by Chinese Embassy)
l Results of Chinese language Test (HSK 4 or above)
l Proof of funds
NIT will verify the materials submitted by the students online to decide whether admitting the applicant. Meanwhile, please pay attention to the following matters:
1. Interview is required for postgraduate applicants. We will arrange online video interview after verifying the materials. We will inform you of the contents and requirements for the interview via email. Please reply at your earliest convenience.
2. During the period of materials verification, we will email you the admission result. If your application materials are not complete, we will email you the additional materials needed.
3. The admitted applicant will receive a Letter of Admission and Visa Application for Study in China (Form JW202) sent through international express service. Due to the uncertainty of delivery time of international express service, it will take at least 4 weeks from the applicant admitted to the arrival of the letter of admission.
4. The admitted students should register in NIT as scheduled with the Letter of Admission, Form JW202, original documents of the latest education certificate and academic transcript; if failing to get the visa in time, the student shall contact our office for help in order to get the visa as early as possible.
Admission
After receiving the complete materials of the applicants, NIT will verify your materials and admit the outstanding ones. After the applicants are admitted, we will issue print-out Letter of Admission and Visa Application Form for Study in China (Form JW202) to students.
The admitted international students shall go to Chinese Embassy (Consulate) in your countries to handle visa for study in China (X1) with passport, Letter of Admission and Visa Application Form for Study in China (Form JW202) etc., and complete registration in NIT with the above materials as well as the original documents of the latest education certificate and academic transcript as the date stipulated in the Letter of Admission. We will cancel the student’s study qualification if we find any fraud in the above materials.
Students must inform us of the arrival date before coming for registration so that we can make relevant preparations. We offer pickup service for international students arriving within the specified time FOR FREE. Please tell us the detailed arrival information via email in the specific school three working days in advance. Please avoid coming for registration on vacations or weekends or at nights so as not to delay your registration procedures.
We will organize the admitted students to attend enrollment verification organized by us within one week after registration, and no school record registration will be offered for those who fail in the verification. We will organize the admitted students to accept physical examination in Jiangxi Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau within one month after registration, and no school record registration will be offered for those who are disqualified for the physical examination and they will be repatriated immediately.
Registration
The registration time is different period every year according to the beginning of term, and NIT will specify the registration time in the Letter of Admission. Due to the possible extra or supplementary requirements from the university, there may be changes in the registration procedures which will be subject to the latest notice of our office via email to your school. The registration requirements are as follows:
1. Please bring all the original documents specified in the “Notes” of the Letter of Admission for inspection.
2. After obtaining the visa, an email must be sent to your school to confirm the registration matters concerned.
3. After your entry to Chinese border, please come direct to NIT for registration immediately and you are not allowed to stay in other places without a justifiable reason. If you need to stay in other places for more than three days, you must timely notify NIT and submit reasonable explanation. In case of any adverse consequence caused by the violation of relevant stipulations on the laws or regulations of China, students shall bear all the responsibilities.
4. Non-working time is not available for registration, and it includes weekends, nights, Mid-autumn Festival (September 10 to September 12), and National Day (October 1 to October 7). If students arrive at NIT in non-working time, causing failure to handle accommodation registration or other problems, students shall bear all the responsibilities.
5. NIT requires all the students to pay tuition, accommodation fee and insurance expenses at the time of registration. These costs will not be deducted from the scholarship. Please make financial arrangement before entering the territory of China.
6. The program the student enrolled in, instruction languages, and fee standards in NIT are subject to the Letter of Admission of NIT. If you have any questions, please send emails to NIT for confirmation.
